Iconography
Intro to Graphic and Digital Design Project (2012)
“Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.” – Berthold Auerbach
Music is a universal language, which gives soul to the world, wings to the mind and flight to the imagination. It nurtures and inspires ones every emotion. My final five icons revolve around how music devices have grown and matured in parallel to my own life. It begins with the gramophone and concludes in the digital age.
Music plays a colossal role in my life. If one were to truly know me, they’d understand that I’m a very shy, quiet and independent person. I love to keep to my own, to myself. In saying that, music has been my refuge a thousand times over; it has been my voice to the world when my own words have run dry. I have turned to music a countless number of times. At the age of five I taught myself how to play guitar, in primary school through intermediate I picked up the violin and clarinet, and lastly through high school I had an interest in percussion. Simply, I cannot function without music. It has been with me from day one.
