Forbidden Fruit - Embodied Nature Collection

In exploring the myth of Persephone, I saw many parallels between her story and the current climate crisis. In this series, I illustrate her story while looking at her connection to nature and to the earth through an eco-feminist lens.

Forbidden Fruit explores the pomegranate, which plays a big part in the mythology of Persephone, as well as in other traditions from various religions. The pomegranate is also experiencing a shift due to climate change - studies have shown that it can no longer grow in some of its traditional habitat due to rising temperatures. Studies show that the fruit also contains less beneficial compounds when grown in warmer-than-normal conditions.
