One of my favorite art styles is that of classic cowboy illustrations and Southwest art. In May 2019, Big Tastes of Texas premiered with just that style. Marketing supplied us with six main posters and a banner created by a local illustrator to mimic the look of old cowboy book covers or movie posters.
My team and I went wild with the theme. We tried everything from puns on classic Western movies, like "Pie Noon," "There will be Blood Orange," and "Showdown in Cayenne," to creating illustrations of fruits grown in Texas that mimicked classic images in vintage dime novels. The painterly style of the event was easy to immitate as all team members were classically trained painters.
