Landmarks | Vinyl Cover

Landmarks is a speculative vinyl design that incorporated inspiration behind one's cultural background. Having Scandinavian ancestry, references to Iceland's music, landscape, and cuisine were used as points of reference in the development of the project.

  • Laufabraud - Traditional bread enjoyed during Christmas celebrations formed with geometric cutouts. Incorporated into this project through geometric letterforms that are di-cut from the cover.

  • Landscape - A very influential aspect of Icelandic culture, with rich variety in the form of beaches, fjords, snowy mountains, and more. The importance of appreciation and respect for the landscape is represented through imagery of moss on a tree, demonstrating the natural and organic forms of the landscape as well as the contract between regions found through wood and moss.

  • Music - The tradition of storytelling goes far back in Icelandic culture, bleeding into the experience of music, leading to a very traditional folk/indie form of storytelling. Themes of isolation are commonly represented as a result of Iceland's separation from other countries and cultures by sea.
