Here's a Podcast App design I made for one of the Design Hackathons that I entered, Design~wave!

It's a podcast app that features the homepage, discover page, and recommendation page!

Here's a brief on the project and design process:

Inspiration

As a long time user of podcasts, I have always found it difficult to search for new podcasts to listen to that were already tailored to my tastes, furthermore, I was unable to easily go back to listen to my half-finished episode. I used a variety of podcasts apps, but they did not suit me. Tackled with this problem statement, I decided to do research on podcasts and found that my problem was common. Naze (2005) and Werner (2018) both say that discoverability is the most difficult thing about podcasts. Furthermore, since the pandemic started and leisure time was more accessible to people, podcast downloads have increased by 7 million. We can see that it is definitely a pertinent problem that needs to be solved. Therefore, armed with this research, I decided to create an application that could allow users to discover new podcasts that is tailored to them easily, as well as easily go back to their previously half-finished podcast episode.

What it does

My app, DiscoverCast, allows users to easily find a podcast that is tailored to their tastes based on how similar it is to their currently subscribed podcasts. In the "Home" page, users can find recently uploaded episodes by their subscribed podcasts, and can find new podcasts they might be interested in via the "Today's Podcast Pick". They can also easily go back to listen to their half-finished podcasts. In the "Podcasts" page, users can find their subscribed podcasts, popular podcasts, as well as podcasts that are recommended to them based on what their current tastes are.
