Ollie Application Case Study

Ollie, the quick and easy dog walking app that puts

you and your pup first.

With the rise of apps that offer a range of convenient pet services, there comes questions and concerns from pet pawrents. What walker do I choose? How do I know they will take good care of my pet? Are they as qualified as they say online? With these concerns in mind, Ollie, a conceptual dog walking app, was built for owners that need a fast and flexible dog walking solution they can trust every step of the way.

How might we...

Create an experience that develops trust between the dog owner and the dog walker?

The Process:

  • Define the problem and theorize solutions

  • Conduct research

  • Develop user flows

  • Create Wireframes

  • Build the Brand

  • Apply visual design

  • Prototype and test

  • Revise designs based on user feedback

Research

After conducting user research and analyzing competitors, I found that trust was the most important factor for dog owners looking for a dog walker.

Competitive analysis revealed several ideas for creating an improved experience including..

-Designing a more modern UI interface

-Showing larger photos of available walkers to create a sense of connection

-Creating a faster and more visual walker search option

-Having the ability to save walkers

Onboarding

Comprehensive onboarding was the first step in developing Ollie’s user-friendly interface. The user has the choice to learn more about the app before answering several quick questions to create their account.

Account Creation

Walker Search

While users will have the option to search for walkers in a traditional list view, card search would be the default search style. Much like Tinder, users are able to quickly like, dislike, or learn more about available dog walkers. By “liking” a walker, the walker’s profile is saved for quick reference.

Visual Design & Components

Ollie's visual design is clean and modern with fun color pops and graphic elements to appeal to Millennial users.

Results

Testing resulted in positive feedback from users, who especially appreciated the quick card swipe search option and the ability to see a list of a walker's skills and certifications.
