"But it is Rocket Science" Podcast Graphic

BUT IT IS ROCKET SCIENCE is a science podcast run by two awesome aerospace engineers from Blue Origin. The podcast deals with everything space - from solar storms to electrodynamic tethers to inspirational chats for people entering the aerospace industry.

I had the great opportunity to design a new merchandise graphic for the team's online store. The podcast had a pre-existing graphic which my design needed to compliment so that their store could maintain a consistent brand identity.

I began my design process with a moodboard to define the look and feel of the graphic. As the podcast loves to promote women in STEM, I wanted the graphic to have a strong feminine energy and utilize clean, solid vector shapes.

From the moodboard, I developed some initial concepts for the graphic using Figma. The graphics depicted a female astronaut gazing into space. This imagery was used to convey ideas of wonder, curiosity and exploration.

The client wanted to move forward with Option C from the variations presented but had a few items they wanted changed for the final version. Mainly, the client wanted the astronaut suit to feel more modern and for primary color of the graphic to be red instead of blue.

I adjusted the design based on this feedback and was very happy with the final result :)
