Hipster Barista

I was grabbing coffee one afternoon in Seattle and came across a Starbucks barista with an exceptionally great beard!

I felt compelled to capture the character of the beard somehow (lol) and so the encounter inspired me to draw this perfect stranger.

Since then I have been on the look out for other exceptional hipster characters....

Whenever I notice someone that catches my attention, I try my best to remember the details on them that stood out and then work that into a drawing later.

Here are the hipsters that have been spotted thus far.

Lanky Hipster - the second character in my Seattle Humans series. Noticed him striding through the streets one afternoon. Keep on keeping on, you flowy dude!

Lost Lake Hipster - heโ€™s based on a fella I saw leaving a great little nature-themed diner in Cap Hill.

Goth Cyclist Hipster - saw this cyclist going about his grocery shopping in TJโ€™s and wanted to put him in situ in my favorite park.

Scruffy Hipster - I hadnโ€™t seen a hipster in a week and started to worry that all my muses had moved to Portland.....thankfully this bohemian city-dweller was hanging out at Meet the Moon in Leschi.

Orange Parka Hipster - this bold adventurer was spotted in the pasta sauce section of Trader Joeโ€™s one Sunday evening.

Martian Hipster - this finely-dressed gent was standing outside the Life on Mars bar in Capitol Hill.

Stay tuned for more hipsters to come...
