Who's Picking Your Berries?

Here's an editorial llustration I made back in February for a class assignment based on the NPR article "Who's Picking Your Berries?" by Scott Simon which detailed the dangerous conditions that surround the harvest of these nutritious berries. Many of the Brazilian workers, who harvest these berries for our smoothies, are children who have to climb 60 ft tall trees. Often these workers are injured for life and their pay is not enough to support themselves and their families. These berries are commonly labeled with fair-trade certificates and feel good phrases like "ethically sourced" but this is just another illusion put on by corporations.
