Walkie Case Study (Dog walking app)

Walkie is a dog walking app designed for people with high-energy dogs that need a bit more walking than the average dog. This app was completed end to end as a part of dribbble’s product design course. From Defining the Problem, conducting user research, creating user flows, brainstorming wireframes, polishing Visual Design, and testing prototypes we were able to understand and apply the design thinking process to our projects.

Research:

Qualitative user interviews to better understand the user likes and dislikes of existing dog walking apps.

User Flows

The goal for my user flows was to create a simple flow that allowed the user to quickly search and book a walk for their dog. Getting my user from A to B in as few steps as possible.

Wireframes & Components

After crafting flows, I started to brainstorm and create wireframes. I found this super helpful when I started building high-fidelity Visual Designs and components.

Prototyping and Testing:

My prototype was tested by Family and friends, first rounds of tests my flow to book a dog walker went well the feedback I received was to add confirmation that indicates the action was completed. A few iterations and a new design later I got the results I was looking for.

Review and reflect:

This was my first time going through the product design process from start to finish. I've learned what my strengths and weakest are and what I can improve on

Key takeaways from this project

  • Spend more time on qualitative vs quantitative research to better define the problem

  • Don't overthink, focus on user experience and usability rather than over the top UI

  • Include more tasks for your prototype tests
