Wag + Co Dog walking app

Wag+Co is an app for searching for dog services anything from dog walking, boarding and doggy day care.

Problem Statement

Many dog owners don't have time to look after their dogs, and a service to help out is needed. Finding the right one can be a long process and take some time.

My Role

My role on this project was to work on designing the project from research right through to delivery.

  • User research

  • User flow

  • Wireframes

  • Visual Design

  • Prototype

  • User testing

  • Iteration

User

What is the problem we're trying to solve? what can we help the user with?

Dog owner needs:

  • Better work/life balance

  • Free up their schedule

  • Finding a trustworthy dog walkers

Pain points

  • A lot of choices

  • Safety of their dogs

Target audience

The age demographic that I put it to and researched within was 30-55 who have dogs and working full time who were needing extra help who love their dogs.

User Persona

I interviewed people that I saw as potential users. From the interviews I learned about their habits and needs- what they love about their current services and what they want in the future. This helped me hugely with getting more information for the user persona too.

User Flow

I researched competitor apps a lot and what I tried to do was to make Wag+Co onboarding experience as easy as possible for the user.

Brainstorming ideas

During the process, myself, mentor and colleagues brainstormed during a mentor session and this was able to give more insight into what was going to need thought about within the app, and the user. It helped to understand and look within each category: the owners, the walkers and the dog, and to get more of an understanding of a more complete overview to better plan the app and what was going to be needed for it all.

Usability Test

After designing hi fidelity mockups and visual design aspects of the app I tested with users.

I asked users to go through the onboarding process and also the looking for a dog walker screens too right up until contacting the dog walker. After I got feedback, I iterated the design and took on their feedback.

Feedback

Overall, it was great feedback, they all loved the visual design and it was easy to use. One user thought it would be nice to have another screen more about dog info and the changing of the colour through the screens to a more user friendly blue. I changed this and it looked great and was better in terms of usability.

Final product

Outcomes and what I have learned

I feel that it was a fun project and I have learned that prototyping should start as early as possible even within the low fi mockups in order to see what is going to be needing changed early on.

I really love the visual design for Wag+co and I feel it works really well for the app. I think the design of it and how it's not overly busy is really appealing and makes it for a great user experience.
