Dog Walking App

Design Brief

The goal of this project was to create an app for finding someone to walk your dog.

Research

My research for this app consisted of investigating the existing dog walking apps and interviewing a user of one of the existing apps. Through the research I ended up finding these specific themes:

Although these themes should have been my focus while continuing with the project, I ended up moving in a direction that didn't fulfill them.

Wireframes

The direction for my wireframes put more focus on the onboarding process of the app in order to learn more about the dog/needs of the user in order to make smarter recommendations once onboarded.

This direction would allow the system to determine quality recommendations to the user and remove the need to fumble around searching/filtering/etc.

The downside to this direction is that it removes direct control from the end-user which may causes issues regarding the themes brought up during my research.

The wireframes for the actual application experience focused on highlighting recommendations and giving small pieces of information about the dog walkers.

Onboarding Designs

The designs for onboarding mostly expanded on the idea of asking questions to power the system being able to provide quality recommendations.

App Designs

Once in the application we categorize the list of dog walkers based on the questions asked during onboarding.

Tips for next time

  • Return to earlier planning to re-focus direction

  • Wireframes make iteration easy, so iterate!

  • If you're not happy with a design toss it, don't force it
