What is a zero wall recliner?

A zero clearance recliner, sometimes known as a wall hugger recliner, is a reclining chair that can be put within a few inches of a wall and still recline. The advantage of wall huggers is that they maximise available space by allowing chairs to be placed near walls.

A wall hugger's reclining mechanism works by sliding the seat cushion (on which you sit) forwards during the recline motion. The back of a seat reclines as it moves forwards, and the footrest extends out in front of the sitting.

Most recliners have conventional mechanics that allow the seatback to recline without the seat cushion moving. This way, the rear of the furniture requires at least 15-20 inches of clearance, and it cannot be put too near to any other objects behind it.

You've come to the right place if you're seeking zero clearance theatre seating. Because home theatres are typically constructed in rows, and you can't have the front row reclining into the isle of the rear row, our collection of top brand names is dominated by wall recliners. To best meet your needs, choose from a variety of manual or electric wall hugger recliners.
