DIY.org Live Challenge scientific illustrations

As a mentor for DIY.org I conduct Live Challenges for children on the topic of scientific illustration. For my introductory video in which I introduce myself and explain what scientific illustration is I created these quick pencil sketches which I colored digitally with some chrome yellow. The first set shows how I found out about scientific illustration while growing up. The second shows scientific illustration of things we can only see using a microscope like atoms, molecules and microscopic organisms. The third shows zoological illustration of plants, insects, fish, birds, reptiles, amphibians and mammals. The fourth are illustrations of earth science, the earths structure, the inside of volcanoes and rocks and minerals. The fifth set is of artifacts, fossils and prehistoric animals and finally astronomical illustration which shows asteroids, planets, stars and space exploration. My video is available on youtube.
