Weather Apps

Lately I've been gaining more and more interest in editorial design type of work, thanks to inspiring stuff I've seen from people like @Mikey Burton and @Mike McQuade. I realized that grad school would be the perfect opportunity to do some research and dive in, since I was really interested and had the time. This has been quite a departure from my logo stuff, but a very fun challenge that I'm getting more excited about everyday. For now, I'm just picking interesting articles I find online and working off of them, but I hope to get good enough to land some real-world works someday down the line.

This design was in response to a Matter Magazine article exploring our obsession with weather apps and the illusion of control that they give us, especially in the era of climate change where weather is more unpredictable than ever before. I chose to represent some kind of off-the-wall, unexpected weather app icons, in more of a print based style. As always, any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
