Smart Plug App

How might we set up a smarthome easily that can track the energy consumption of plugged-in devices?

All home appliance linked to your Black Hut smartplug is shown on the app. Change status (on/idle) easily through mobile app, web, or smartwatch. You can also use voice command via Google Assistant or Siri.

Black Hut smartplug will calculate each device's wattage per hour, and give you an overview of the estimated energy cost.

DESIGN CONCEPT

Default Dark Mode

Black Hut's USP is anchored on its ability to help users track their energy consumption. Thus, the app's default dark mode helps AMOLED screens manage power efficiently (ninja mode). Carbon black's bluish tinge is suitable than "real black" so the texts are still legible. The accent color is Verbena to give a modern eco-green vibe.

Neumorphism

The neumorphic design makes the app look tactile, as a physical switch would be. The app's minimilism makes the user focus on the essential content. The toggle button allows ease of switching from dark to light mode for accessibility.

Mobile-first Approach

The mobile version of the app was designed first before it was adapted for the larger (desktop) screen. This way, content and responsiveness were prioritized. The boxed-type elements made it easier to be translated to other smaller screens e.g. smartwatch and Google Home displays.
