Mother
If only it was easy to pick the right words. I am Ukrainian, born in Kharkiv. On February 24th my native and beloved city was attacked and is bombed from all kinds of weapons since then. The war that has begun in 2014 unrolled into the full-scale invasion by the Russian Federation. Millions of Ukrainians, including my friends, had to leave. Thousands already have been killed, and much more suffered, were misplaced, suppressed or even deported in the unknown direction. Some cities were turned into dust, completely wiped out. And it is happening right now, at this moment, in the center of Europe.
This piece is about us all, about my strong and beloved country, so beautiful, but so sad, about loveliness and pain, glory and suffering.
