State Plates Project: Mississippi

Stoked to get this out into the world! This is my contribution to Jonathan Lawrence's State Plates Project for my home state of Mississippi. Really grateful to be involved.

While I definitely wanted it to feel functional, I also wanted to take advantage of the opportunity to make something fun for fun's sake. I chose to go with a more antique plate layout b/c of the charm of seeing them on old pick up trucks.

My schpeel:
I once had a conversation with some French man who burst into excitement when I told them that I was from Mississippi, asking me all about The Blues (which I had always taken for granted.) It was born in Mississippi and then spread up the River stream to become America’s music. Heritage is a dangerous word in Mississippi. I wanted to highlight its positive heritage...also, Mississippi's word mark has the best "S"'s.
