Since 2009, Mast Books has sold its beautifully curated collection of used, new and rare books in NYC’s East Village. Husband and wife founders Bryan and James offer a gallery-like space in which visitors can peruse their interests, which includes 20th and 21st Century artists' books, as well as hand-picked titles on photography, design, fashion, cinema, modern literature, and poetry.
We are excited to have had the opportunity to help Mast on some recent creative endeavors: redesigning their graphic identity and developing a refined stationary system and other brand collateral. We were inspired by the design principles of the Bauhaus and the minimalist sensibility of the post-modernist art movement. Approaching the work with the same attention to detail with which Mast curates the collection of books on its shelves, we created a logo and wordmark with a functional, utilitarian feel. This has resulted in an impactful brand identity that is at once classic, timeless and bold.
