2020 Vintage - Barebottle Natural Wine Label Designs
In 2020, Barebottle brought back two grape varietals Pinot Noir & Chardonnay and added two new varietals, Malbec and Gewurztraminer. From a packaging perspective, this was a great opportunity to showcase the flexibility of my design system. The artwork is set with a grape vine twisting and growing through our iconic BAREBOTTLE workmark. However, our use of color to denote individual wines allows flexibility.
For the two red wines, Pinot Noir was set as we released a 2019 vintage. For the Malbec, an inky blackberry purple provided great contrast to the existing Pinot Noir.
The two white wines were more complex. I had never tried Gewurztraminer before, so after tracking down a good bottle. I took tasting notes and planned my composition. Gewurztraminer is slightly more sweet with string overripe stonefruit notes. So I pumped the vibrancy and saturation of the label with a overripe soft orange gradient on our brand mark BAREBOTTLE. The contrast between the gold foil of the Chardonnay and the vibrant orange of the Gewurztraminer.
Next year for the release of our 2021 vintage we plan to add two more grape varietals. Stay tuned for the latest release of our label designs.
