Planet 1/6 : Foundations

Foundations is what Earth might look like in the distant, technologically‑advanced future where land masses have formed a new Pangea and the land is almost entirely urbanized.

For over a year now, I've been working on designing a fictional universe for Explore Data Science. An educational platform that introduces common data science theory and techniques to help programmers, mathematicians, and other technical professionals expand their data science expertise.

The project was under strict NDA until launching last week and I’m really excited to share it with the world. The design focus is an æsthetic that reverses the typical contrast of large planet and small surface details. Each planet is designed to appear too small for the details of the surface, creating an interesting blend of photo-realism and abstract illustrations.
