Logo Design - Genetic Engineering

I've been recently tasked to create a logo for an upcoming event related to genetic engineering. I was pushing towards a more simplistic approach but after some passes the client opted for a more illustrative logo, resulting in this: A cog representing the engineering combined with the DNA, for genetics. The colors are also in accordance: A desaturated blue for the engineering part and a bright neon green for biology.
