SkipCrowds (Food ordering/Restaurant App)
Project description
SkipCrowds is an application made with the purpose to solve the problem of avoiding crowds of people during the pandemic and the ability to order food and/or reserve a table at a restaurant whilst following COVID protocols. Re-design and re-touch the previous application whilst keeping the base of the product intact, simple yet effective. Conducted by researching all of the competitors that provided services of ordering food online, online reservations, and availability of different payment options.
This was during the pandemic so most of the restaurants had not set up their online COVID protocols that would not inform customers of how stacked a certain restaurant was and that was our advantage. I noticed during my research that most of the competitors had long and complicated procedures until you could actually make a reservation, which is a huge hassle for any person. Most of the restaurants did not inform their customers whether their premises were pet friendly or not and whether or not you have to be vaccinated. I decided that one of the most important things that should be implemented in the app is the ability of the user to view how populated a certain restaurant is, the ability to pick and choose the table of their liking, whether it was indoors or outdoors, depending on the restaurant’s protocol and also the ability to pay without any physical contact during the encounter.
The most important thing for me design-wise was keeping the original look and feel of the application and just adding a modernized touch with a sense of usability. Keeping the original colors I managed to transform what once was an outdated food ordering application into something anyone would be familiar with and would be satisfied using it. Based on the final result of the application and the fact that any design is never finished, there’s still changes I would implement but the possibilites are endless and sometimes out of your hands. It was a pleasure working on this project for this client and a pleasure to be able to make someone’s life easier by ordering their food.
‘Til next time!
