Knysna Municipality – Brand Identity Design

The Knysna area in South Africa is one of the most protected natural areas of the country and a pristine and popular coastal holiday destination. To re-energise the image of the Knysna Municipality, a revamp of their identity was requested.

I decided to delve into the rich biodiversity of the Knysna area for inspiration. And to create an appealing mascot/ambassador for the protection and sustainable development of the area – responsibilities resting squarely on the shoulders of the municipality. The endangered Knysna Dwarf Chameleon, endemic to the Knysna area only, was my first choice and its unique features were perfectly suited to transform into a stylised icon.
