Men of Clay: An Exploration of the Terracotta Army

Because each soldier in the Terracotta Army is unique, I wanted to reflect this in my design. I created several bodies, head shapes, hairstyles, eyes, noses, and facial features in dozens of layers in Photoshop. I was thus able to mass-produce soldiers without any doubles on the front cover. I also used these soldiers as chapter headers. One soldier means Chapter One, two soldiers mean Chapter Two, etc.

I designed this book with the Antarctic Institute of Canada over the course of one week. This book is available as a paperback, e-book, and audiobook.
