Mona™
Mona™ : Mona is a Serif Typeface that I sketched up back in 2019. It is a work in progress. This face was inspired by my years of a teenager where I spent my time doing graffiti. At the time my mentor in graffiti was an artist that went by the name of Anomz. Anomz name came from his time of experiential phase In life of raving. He had an experience at an underground event where he meant this beautiful woman named Mona.
When he was in the process of figuring out a graff name for himself he was inspired by her name and wrote it backwards and decided to at the letter Z at the end which birth the name Anomz. Till this day this is probably one of the most unique names I have ever come a cross and sands out from pool of writers.
Anomz taught me everything he knew when he witnessed my desire to learn after our first night painting an abandoned slaughter house. When he would paint his wild style he always did this arch in the inside of his letter A. The arch in the A is mostly seen in the world of tattooing now a days and I’m sure it’s been around before him , but it was the very first time I had ever seen it.
I decided to build off my history past with him and add my own twist with a Serif typeface staying true to the foundation of where I come from and that is how Mona was given birth. Still has a lot of work to be done but I thought I’d share it with this trendy embossed effect that has been going on that I learned the other day. Who would have thought after many years of working with Photoshop that I was missing a step every time I used it. Anyways enjoy!
