"Update your app" notification - FoodFuels example

Every developer wants to keep their app up to date. Packed with the most advanced features and definitely with no bugs. Exactly for this, we build in our apps the "New version is available" notifications. Such a modal screen appears when users start an outdated app. Two points:

đŸ”˜ the message should be convincing for the user (so they will invest their time and megabytes to update your app);

đŸ”˜ the update action should be optional (if users don't have enough time to update but urgently need to access the app).

On this shot, you can see such a screen for our app FoodFuels.

The screen is designed in the style of the app, focusing on the main action: "Update now". We made the CTA button bold and easy to access, and the cancel button - pale and high at the top. Such an approach allows you to focus users' attention on the main goal you need. As a result - you will get the most users updating their apps.

In the FoodFuels app, some features are crucial and require a mandatory update. In this case, this screen will not have a close button, only the "Update now" option. As we wrote before, the best practice is to make updates optional. But in a critical situation, you can press in the admin panel that red button - "major update required".

Love your users. And they will love you back.
