Winter Birds • 3 / 3 • American Goldfinch

House and purple finches are cool too, but the goldfinch is my fav. 

The vibrant yellow of the male goldfinch is stunning. 

My parents have no issues attracting goldfinches to their feeders but they don't seem to be as prominent where I live (or at least in my developing neighborhood).

I've seen glimpses of a couple but none have yet landed on my feeders. 

I can still visualize in my brain all the finches that would flock to my parents' bird feeders when I was younger. 

I was always so fascinated by how they would hang onto the feeders, in particular the sock feeder filled with thistle seed. 

It seemed they'd try whatever position - upright, sideways, upside down - in order to get their beaks on some food. 

I admire the determination. 👏🏼
