Winter Birds • 2 / 3 • Black-capped Chickadee

When I was a kid, I became fascinated with songbirds.

My grandparents had a bird feeder outside their kitchen window right above the sink.

I remember grabbing a chair from the table so I could climb up on the counter and get a better view of them.

All kinds of birds would stop by - chickadees being one of them.

My grandparents also had a book about songbirds that I'd sit and look at, intrigued by how many types and colors there are.

I was so fascinated, they even bought me my own book to have at home.

Watching the birds on my grandparents' farm is still one of my favorite memories I have with them.
