Misc: Missed Shot

UPDATE: February 5th, 2022

Wow, over 100 views. I guess my sentiment is shared with more people than I thought.

So I tried Dribbble Pro this past month hoping to get some freelance work going doing what is normally my more quiet month in terms of commission work.

Suffice to say...it was not worth the money I spent.

I'm going to be fair and won't blame Dribbble for this...mostly. They have a little blame, but most of it is on myself. I'm damn good at what I do, but I'm still very much an amateur. Clearly I wasn't up to snuff with what folks on the job board were looking for and I need to sharpen my skills more.

On the other hand...Dribbble should offer a free month trial so amateurs like me can test the waters before plunking down money for more features. There should also be a system in place for people who want to post a job to prove they aren't just bots or whatever.

Like, y'know how you need to post stuff to your gallery before you get full run of the site? Do something like that for job listers. I dunno, maybe they have to hit a certain threshold on how many comments they have to leave or something? Just to prove that they'll reply on time because oh my good lord, towards the end of the subscription I had to basically ask potential clients if they were real and not just bots.

And speaking of notifying job hunters, you know what's insane? If someone chooses not to go with you, you get sent a system message saying an artist has been found. Sure that sounds all well and good, better than being left in the dark, but here's the kicker: The message is sent to your email address. Not to your Dribbble DMs.

Unbelievable.

Dribbble, I love you...But you need to rework some stuff ASAP.
