Winter Birds • 1 / 3 • Northern Cardinal

I find cardinals to be one of the most majestic looking birds. 

I’ve seen both male and female cardinals on my parents’ farm in eastern SoDak — both so beautiful. 

I have yet to see any on the western side of the state where I currently live. 

According to my research, they’ve been spotted here — so hopefully someday I'll get to see one! 

My favorite time of year to see them, by far, is in the winter. 

The vibrancy of reds up against the stark white snowy background with rich tones of evergreen and subtle neutrals of dried grasses in between. 

Mmm. 🤌🏼 So good.
