KU Leuven Institute for Single Cell Omics (LISCO) - Logo
The KU Leuven Institute for Single Cell Omics is a center of expertise for single-cell and spatial multi-omics technology development, automation and application.
In the design of this logo I took inspiration from the core element of the institute itself: cells. These biological building blocks contain most of their genetic information in the form of DNA in their nucleus, which is represented with the central black circle. Given that this would not be symbolic enough of a cell, I decided to add another structure that is essential for cell function and that is in proximity to the nucleus. This structure is called endoplasmic reticulum, the semi-circles around the nucleus. It is here were proteins are synthesized following the instructions encoded in our genes.
