Goodwill Bakery Mobile App
It is my pleasure to present to you the Goodwill Bakery mobile app. I hope you'll find it informative, engaging and delightful to check out this piece as much as I enjoyed working on it.
The Goodwill Bakery App is a mobile application designed to allow customers to order baked goods online with the option of having their orders customized and delivered as well.
Whilst designing this app, I anchored on 3 core UI/UX design principles/elements namely, accessibility, inclusivity and internationalization. Personally, I subscribe to the idea of accessibility (#a11y) consideration in designs. Of course, carrying everyone along, including peeps with disabilities is invaluable to effectual design.
For accessibility consideration, I incorporated the concept of voice technology/Voice user interface (VUI) in the search bar. This feature allows users especially those with low vision to search for products using their voices. Icons on the navigation bar have descriptive texts to allow screen readers compatibility. My use of High-contrast colors, which were validated using the color contrast checker #Webaim is to ensure that users with low vision find the Goodwill bakery mobile app user-friendly. I also ensured that there is a good contrast between text and images.
With the Next Billion Users (NBU) from around the world rapidly joining the internet, there is an increasing need to constantly incorporate the concept of "internationalization" in our designs. #Internationalization is all about designing an app to work in other languages and countries. Having that at the back of my mind whilst designing this app, I provided the option for users to select their language.
