The Alchemy of Life

As an artist I'm much influenced by Van Gogh, both by his paintings and his life. This is one of the several works I made based on his paintings. I love to take them and shape them a-new, he really was an infinite fountain of life and creativity. In this piece, I wanted to represent existence. I took one sad yet wonderful picture, which contained both light and colors (through stars) and darkness (the night and the big cypress); I multiplied it to form a loop, the wheel of existence, a never-ending movement. I emphasized the yellow, the favorite color of Vincent, the color of good and happiness to him and Buddhism. And I contrasted it with black. Thus giving a new life to his oeuvre, yet by fully respecting and developing his ideas.
