UX Bootcamp + Scholastic Book Fairs Creative Jam

Sometimes simple is best. Sometimes familiar is best.

That's what my teammate and I were thinking when we were designing these screens for the Scholastic Book Fairs Creative Jam held by Adobe.

I often wonder about how it would be for my parents if they had to use any of the screens that I've created. I want designs to be modern and on trend. However, I also think about how that could complicate the experience for the older generation that aren't so tech savvy.

Since learning and studying UI/UX, I have been able to better explain to my parents how to use a certain app, how to navigate a new website. I can tell them about the indicators of an actionable button or feature, rather than going through the experience numerous times to help them remember. With the explanation of these specific indicators (color, shape, thickness of type), they remember more on their own and soon the experience is learned and stress is reduced (for both parties!).
