Late 1980s - In Memory of my grandfather
In memory of my grandfather.
When I was a boy, I lived in the province where my father worked. Sometimes we went to Seoul to meet my grandparents and I loved seeing high-rise buildings, various cars, especially taking a subway.
I grabbed my grandfather's hand and took a bus to take the subway. I still can remember something subtle and weird smell from the underground. The subway was so fast and we reached the royal palace station. The station itself looked like a cave and there were several replica national treasures at the station. My grandfather asked me "Do you want to drink a soda?" while pointing to a vending machine that pours small ice into a paper cup with sweet soda.
Unfortunately, I can share my memory with him anymore. Nothing I could do. The situation is bad. All I could do was transfer my memory into this illustration.
Rest in peace.
