Margot Community Redesign (Case Study)
Margot Community, an inclusive online network helping women and gender-marginalized individuals find mentors through 1:1 virtual meetings. At its core, Margot focuses on normalizing the concept of women being paid for their time and knowledge in hopes of building a space and environment where women can seek guidance from mentors who are leaders and thought provokers in their respective industries.
π Simplified and Personable
Our research told us that, even though people can be sure about wanting a mentor, they can still be very tentative about pursuing a real connection and opening up. With this in mind, we strived to build a simplified process that walks soon-to-be-mentees through the necessary steps required to set up a mentoring session. In doing this, we spent a lot of time refining the screen's look and feel so a mentee can feel comfortable while doing this.
π Improved "story-telling" on the mentor profiles
On the mentor profile, we redesigned the collection and flow of content to focus more on the mentor and the story they are trying to tell. Previously, profile screens prompted booking ahead of displaying personal content (which didn't begin until past the fold), discouraging users from digging any deeper. With this new design, profiles can bring more personality and paint a more comprehensive picture of a mentor.
π Reorganized pricing information
Lastly we added some micro-interactions and animations into the booking process to bring a level of visual professionalism to the service that we felt was somewhat lacking. These extra details give the eye something to look at and smoothly pull together the steps of the booking process.
π Refining the visual experience
To better integrate the transition from profile to booking, we designed a fixed footer element for the booking CTA so that it does not interrupt the flow of the mentor profile. This footer also reorganizes the previously confusing rate/pricing information into an expandable sheet that displays the necessary info in an organized manner.
