Smart House Temperature Regulator Slider Animation

At Zajno we’re continuing to develop our vision for the Smart House that began with the air humidity slider animation we showed here a few weeks ago. This time we decided to bring colour to a temperature regulator that can control a wide range of applications from air and floor temperature to smart kettles!  

The idea of a changing-color slider animation came from a desire to create a simple and intuitive temperature indicator without the need for numerals or other arbitrary symbols.  

I worked in After Effects with Tint to animate the color changes, while Bulge helped me create a magnifying lens effect and the Gaussian function blurred the image a little. The effect of a chaotically moving haze inside the thermometer is executed using circles hidden in the mask. I also used the wiggle transform modifier with a strong Gaussian Blur applied.
