Up North | Michigan

UP NORTH Everyone who lives in Michigan can't wait for summers to go "Up North". Like birds migrating after a long winter, Michiganders pack up coolers, tents, bags of food, and anything else that will fit in your car and hit I-75. The destination options are endless, but for most, it becomes an annual tradition to their favorite location. This year I decided to turn our family adventure into a photo road trip... which meant I had to limit my gear since car space was at a premium! One camera, a couple lenses, and a tripod. We hit 5 locations in 4 days - Sleeping Bear Dunes, Tahquamenon Falls, Crisp Point Lighthouse, Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, and Mackinaw Island. With 1000 miles and 17.5 hours on the road and staying at 2 campgrounds and 3 hotels, I had to move quickly and take whatever time of day, lighting, and weather that was handed to me and make the most of it.
