South Dakota

South Dakota is the home to Mount Rushmore National Memorial, a massive sculpture carved into the Black Hills region of the state. Completed in 1941 under the direction of Gutzon Borglum and his son Lincoln, the sculpture's roughly 60-foot-high granite faces depict US presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln.
