Torchlight Pojects
Torchlight Projects is a community-focused event series in the small town of Belfast, ME. Each event spotlights independent filmmakers, musicians, and artists. Event organizer and multidisciplinary artist, Chris Battaglia, wanted event branding that had a folk-style based on some of his own drawings and artwork.
The goal was to create a logomark for the umbrella concept of Torchlight Projects, with icons created for each individual event – all using a rustic macot to tie everything together. In addition to those mark, a alternative logomark featuring just the Torchlight was created and animated.
The name "Torchlight" was chosen because Belfast sits on the Passagassawakeag river, which in Abenaki means "place where you spear sturgeon by torchlight" and Chris wanted to honor that history. In addition to the icons for the individual events, we wanted to add in additional elements to honor that Abenaki name, which can be seen in the seamless pattern created for social media, flyers and any other visuals for the events.
As always, an event needs great merch. Chris, wanted an option for a simple t-shirt to showcase support for the events and community.
