Even with the return of Russell Wilson, the Seattle Seahawks’ slide this season has been hard to figure out. It feels like a different unit is lacking each week, with the entire team struggling against the Colt McCoy-led Cardinals last week. The Cardinals won 23-13, and the Seahawks allowed 328 yards to McCoy along with a pair of touchdowns.

Wilson still doesn’t look quite right throwing the ball, though to his credit he did average just under 8 yards per attempt last week against Arizona. The Seahawks, however, are now 3-7 looking to claw their way back into the NFC Wild Card race. To do so, they’ll have to get through the Washington Football Team on “Monday Night Football,” who sit ahead of them at 4-6.

To Washington’s credit, they’ve won two straight games, one against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and one spoiling Cam Newton’s return to Charlotte against the Panthers. Both wins were predicated on a heavy dose of Antonio Gibson on offense and a good pass defense. While Newton completed plenty of passes against Washington, he finished with just 189 yards. With that in mind, the Seahawks look like a favorable matchup for Washington, whose pass rush has been a positive in a topsy-turvy year.

Washington is looking to keep pace with the Eagles in the NFC East, and a three-game winning streak would be a huge boon for them. In an NFC that is completely bogged down with five-win teams, getting to 5-6 would be terrific news for Washington. The road for the Seahawks is more difficult, but the Washington Football team is knocking on the door. This game could let them kick it down.
