Black Desert

This abstract series consist of a bunch of macro shots of sand textures shot in Iceland. The sand of these shots is all pitch black. It's actually not real sand but volcanic ash. These photos were shot at the Stokssnes area. Strong winds and changes in tide created these textures. I spent a few hours looking for different textures and light to document them. When the sun hits them from certain angles, everything turns to gold.
