architecture poster | typography II | spring '21

project overview

purpose to understand the similarities and interactions between typographic structure and architecture through applications of learned typographic design concepts. 

assignment student will develop 3d type titles based on the selected architecture firm’s work. sketch, refine, and design a 20 x 30in type-dominant poster. sketches and roughs are to be designed at half size, 10 x 15in.

an architecture firm based in london, u.k., with a focus on repurposing & improving spaces rather than constructing completely new ones. see their work here.

project ideation/methodology

i love tp bennett's ideals of reusing/re-invigorating old spaces to preserve resources and be more environmentally conscious. in my research, i found that their designs often feature unique staircases and other twisting forms, and i wanted to engage some of that motion in my re-envisioned lettermark.
