Fierce Day

This is my piece commissioned by the East London Comic Arts Festival for their ELCAF Haul 2021 in place of an in person festival due to the pandemic, and to celebrate their 10th anniversary.

Alongside various works by 28 other selected artists, my postcard will be part of the festival’s offering to the world in 2021.

My artwork is in response to my late grandfather’s boy scout diaries when he went to school on the Isle of Mull in 1930. The diaries were found by my family during the lockdown and are a little connection I have with my grandfather who I never got to meet, as he died about 20 years before I was born. What I do know about him though, is that he was a forestry groundskeeper, spoke gaelic and was a motorcycle messenger in WWII, so it’s nice to read a little about day-to-day snapshots of his life at a point in time.
