Mock Up: Cold Smith's

Time to start posting my back catalog and I might as well start strong!

As I don't get a lot of work, I tend to spend my time designing mockups and other guff to keep my skills sharp as a knife. One excerise that always works well is designing fake/non-existant soda brands that exist in my writing projects. A little world building by graphic design, if you will.

Presenting Cold Smith's, a popular soda from deepest, darkest Canada, carbonated in Calgary since '68! Obvious inspiration is Coca-Cola since that is my go-to/defacto soda if available, but I also took some inspiration from the Scottish hard cider, Frosty Jack's. I blame those old Limmy vines.

Normally when I do a mockup, I tend to make the logo and leave it there. But for Cold Smith's, I decided to go a little further beyond and designed the bottle and label. Truthfully I should say I designed the label, as the bottle itself was a royalty free base that a college professor gave to me ages ago for a project that didn't happen.

I think I nailed the look juuuuuuuuust right. I'd give Cold Smith's a try, that's for sure!
