AMAZON's ONLINE CAR SELLING PRODUCT- LO-FI PAGE 1
Situation:
In this project, the Situation was that Amazon, the world’s biggest online retailer hopes to start selling cars online.
Task:
I was given the task of launching this new product within the next 12 months. I set out to ask questions such as: When you want to buy a car at first, how do you go about it? Do you look for someone that already sells or do you check online for cars? Do you face challenges with cars you see online for sale? If a retailer like Amazon happens to start selling cars online and the shipping to Nigeria is not so exorbitant, will you purchase from them?
Action:
I carried out a research by doing interviews with about 5 people who I was sure are frequent car buyers both online and offline. I prepared semi-structured interview questions which gave me the opportunity to not only ask questions being written down but to also ask questions as the need arose.
I received their responses, created a car buying process map per user (interviewee), and collated these while creating user stories and features. In total, I came up with 7 user stories and features which I believe meets the needs of the buyers who intend buying cars online.
Result:
At the end, I was able to discover their pain points which included shipping tracking, uncertain customs clearing and forwarding costs, exchange rates and other payment processes when it comes to buying vehicles.
I was able to develop accurate product features that solves the problems faced by the customers.
