Wil To Make

On July 12 2014, I lost a dear friend in a tragic mistaken-identity shooting in Chicago. Wil Lewis was a professional photographer whom I met in precollege at the Milwaukee Institute of Art + Design, and was an incredibly lovable person. The type of guy that you rarely saw upset, and odds are, gave you shit for having a negative attitude. I loved this guy from the day I met him, and even painted a giant acrylic painting of him to get into MIAD as apart of my freshman portfolio, which his widowed wife still hangs in their home.

This event was created to bring artists together to celebrate Wil's life, and raise money for a scholarship awarded to a young artist in need to be able to attend MIAD. The theme of this show is your will to make the things you do. Why do you create, what drives you, what makes you feel the need to share your ideas? We felt this would be a great way to give artists of all backgrounds a chance to be apart of a show to raise funds for this scholarship.

RIP Wil, your smile will be missed by so so many people.
