Support public healthcare

A while ago, when we were trying to save the life of the last pigeon that crossed our lives (we didn't succeed), I reflected to myself about the privilege of having access to public healthcare and how unfair it seems to me that non human animals can't access it.

Two weeks ago I was diagnosed with appendicitis and had a surgery the same day. It's a very common situation but even so, I couldn't stop thinking about what would have happened if I didn't have access to free public healthcare: would have I refused to have surgery because I couldn't afford it? Would I contracted a lifelong debt? It's chilling to think that my life could have taken such a big twist in such a short time. I thought about all the humans that can't access public healthcare because of racist anti-immigration laws, or because they were born in a country that doesn't offer it.
