The pattern: Up-close and personal

Nothing too fancy on this shot: just a bigger and more detailed pattern display, also some (somewhat personal) news, hence the name.

The pattern was to be used in the chat screens for HeroFinder and shows some common icons related to gaming. Some of them we got from Typicons, some we crafted ourselves. Also, I added the app and company logos to give it some branding.

Sadly HeroFinder is no more. In August 2021 due –in part– to the company being unable to secure funding, CGW had to close operations. Although it is a well-known risk of the startup life, it is no less hard to experience it.

In the 18 months we worked from the very conception of the idea to designing it, implementing it and launching it to production on an infrastructure ready to serve thousands (if not millions) of concurrent users.

We launched in March 2021 and got 1.5M downloads fairly quickly. For a time, HeroFinder was even in the top-10 list of most-downloaded apps for entertainment in the Google Play store.

In these times of looking for supreme growth we some times loose sight of how many 1.5M people interested, albeit sometimes brefly, in your product are.

As the CPO for HeroFinder, I am very proud of what we accomplished and thankful of each one of the people in the team that made it all possible. We did a lot with very little in very trying situations.

In the near future I'll be posting some behind the scenes and never-(to-be)-seen work we had in the roadmap.
